Couple's Massage - Together Forever

Photobucket
Bringing couples together via a couple's massage is quickly becoming one of the hottest trends in massage therapy. Sharing special times together with a loved one doesn't get any better than a massage and coming together in this calming - and healing - experience inspires closeness, thereby heightening the experience for its participants.

So how does a massage for couples work? You and your loved one are given a massage in the same room - at the same time - by two different therapists. As far as couples massage etiquette, it's fine to talk to each other through the massage, as opposed to the traditional silence of a single massage. The choice is yours... it's your time together, but discuss this important topic together before you begin your massage.

Listed below are just some of the benefits that people are enjoying as the result of a massage.

• Relief from tension and stress that results from the ultimate level of relaxation your body enters during the massage.

• A couple's massage allows people to strengthen their relationships by taking pleasure in something together - with no one else in the room (except the massage therapists).

• It's a great way to remove the apprehension that some people (particularly men) feel about the nudity involved in a massage. Having their significant other in the room tends to remove the inhibition and heighten the pleasure of the experience.

• A massage for couples comes in handy as a wonderful gift for birthdays, holidays, anniversaries or "just because".

• It can also be a great way to spend time with your mother, aunt or best friend who you never seem to connect with as much as you'd like.

• Not only will a massage for couples fortify your mental health, but your body will also benefit from the healing properties it provides.

With all the various types of massage available, the only hard decision about getting a couple's massage is which technique to choose. Make the experience even more enjoyable by experimenting with different types of massages; you can both choose the same type of massage or pick two different ones and later compare the results. Some techniques to consider for your massage include:

• For relief from pain, many choose the Trigger Point couples massage, which targets your muscle tissue.

• One of the most popular massages - the Swedish massage - improves flexibility and circulation by utilizing long, smooth movements to relax the body.

• A slightly more forceful couples massage is the Deep-Tissue massage, which relieves tension and painful knots resulting from stress, by honing in on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

• We all know the soothing powers of heat, so another very popular type of massage is the Hot Stone massage, used to relieve tension and kick up one's energy level.

• Many pregnant women are raving about the Prenatal couples massage... they can get the relief their body needs from the strain of pregnancy while their mate enjoys a deeper, more forceful technique.

• Men and women facing the next stage in their life are enjoying the Geriatric couples massage to battle the effects of aging.

As mentioned before, a couples massage brings together the best of both worlds... you get to share this intimate experience with someone you care about and in the process, you'll rid your mind and body of stress and improve your health at the same time.

Five Reasons to Visit a Beauty Spa

Should you wish to go to a beauty spa here are 5 reasons that will allow you to decide whether it's the right thing for you to do. Sometimes, we need a little extra push to do the things that will make us look and feel great, which is where this handy guide comes in. Below are five reasons you should make the most of your local spa, and they will hopefully be enough to persuade you that it is right for you:

1. We all need time off. Endless work simply isn't good for you, no matter how important it might be to the rest of your life. Sometimes, it is vital that you simply take some time for yourself, relax completely, and pamper yourself a little. If you've stopped looking in the mirror recently because you have started looking run down, or if you have begun to snap at the people around you, it's time to give yourself a day to unwind.

2. The big occasion. We all have important days in our lives, whether they're job interviews, dates, Christmas parties or weddings. Generally, we like to look good for the important events, regardless of what we do the rest of the time. If you have something big coming up, and you want to look great for it, a trip to your local spa could be just the thing you need.

3. It's altruistic. Or at least, it is if you take along a friend who is desperately in need of it. We all know at least one person like that, don't we? Spa days can be perfect presents, or simply perfect ways of spending a day out with one of your closest friends. Often, you'll find that your friend has been putting off going to one just as much as you have.

4. It's a great way to try new things. Go on, admit it, you have used the same beauty treatments for years, haven't you? Now, it might be that you do so because they happen to produce the most perfect version of you when you look in the mirror in the morning, but it's more likely that you simply haven't gotten round to trying anything else. With so many different beauty therapies available these days, a trip to a spa can be a good way to see what could work for you.

5. Looking great isn't a luxury. People like to say that looks don't matter, but that simply isn't true. Most people end up being judged by their looks to some degree, so shouldn't yours be the best they can be? More than that, knowing that you look great is a big boost to your confidence, and that always seems to make life a little easier.

Hopefully, you're convinced by this point that there are some good reasons to try out your local beauty spa. So now there's no excuse not to head over to one.

Day Spa With The Girls

A day spa is a great place to spend some time with some of your girlfriends. Chances are just about everyone in the group is working hard, always busy, and trying to balance out a lot of different things they have going on in their life. So, taking a day to meet up and pamper yourselves at the same time is a great way to rejuvenate and get back some balance.

Make Treatment Decisions

Before you go in, or before you even call the day spa, figure out what types of treatments you all would like to receive. It may be that everyone has their own idea of what it means to be pampered, or you may want to split into pairs to have massages or pedicures together. If you are going to be the one to call for the appointments, make sure that you know what everyone is going to want done. This will make scheduling easier and also give you some ideas about how to spend some down time together.

Schedule the Appointments

Designate one person to call the day spa to set up the appointments. You can work with them to figure out the best time for each individual treatment. While on the phone, find out if they offer some type of lunch package. If everyone is going to be separate for most of the say, this is a great way to touch base and just spend some time together enjoying a relaxing atmosphere.

Try to have a backup plan in case there isn't the availability that you need on a specific day or at a certain time. Even if you can't spend the entire morning or afternoon together, do the best to make it something that you will all enjoy. You can always go to dinner that evening or get together another time if the schedules just don't work out.

Ask Questions

While on the phone, get all of the information that everyone will need before the appointments. For example, many times a woman will need to stop using some of her facial products before a facial or chemical peel. Find out if there is anything that you need to bring. If the day spa has a pool inside, you may want to bring a swimsuit to relax after all of the treatments are completed. Remember that this is set to be an enjoyable day and you want to make sure that you have as much information as possible.

Enjoy the Time

If you have set aside some time with friends at the say spa, make sure that you are enjoying it. Relax and let someone else take care of you for a change. Bring a book that you have wanted to read or a music player filled with your favorite tunes. If you find that this is something that you want to do again, you can schedule your next appointment before you leave. If you liked the massage, but want to skip the facial next time, you can customize treatments to exactly what you and your body need.

Benefits of Therapeutic Massage

Researchers have been studying the medical, physical, and emotional benefits of therapeutic massage since the late 1800s. Their findings suggest that massage is beneficial in many daily aspects of human life. This article discusses the many proven benefits of therapeutic massage:

Stress and Anxiety Reduction

According to the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), therapeutic massage has been found to foster peace of mind, promote a relaxed state of mental alertness, help relieve mental stress, improve ability to monitor stress signals and respond appropriately, reduce levels of anxiety, and increase awareness of mind-body connection. Studies have shown that medical students who were massaged before an exam experienced a significant decrease in anxiety and respiratory rates. Cancer patients were found to have a similar reduction of anxiety levels.

Focus and Attention

Research studies have found that office workers who receive regular massages perform better at their job tasks than those who did not receive regular massages. Additionally, office workers who were regularly massaged were more alert and less stressed than those who weren't regularly massaged. Another study performed on autistic children showed that massage could promote a reduction in the erratic behavior common among autistic individuals.

Pain Relief

It's fairly common for pregnant women to undergo massage therapy in order to alleviate the discomfort associated with pregnancy. Additionally, athletes frequently get massaged to alleviate muscle pain. Massage has been proven to reduce the pain and swelling caused by strained muscles and sprained ligaments. Additionally, it helps to relieve tension-related headaches and headaches related to eye strain.

Rehabilitation and Healing

Therapeutic massage can stimulate weak and inactive muscles resulting in a faster, more complete recovery from an illness or injury in which inactivity causes muscle deterioration. Massage has also been shown to promote weight gain in both premature and HIV-exposed infants.

General Health

Massage improves blood circulation and lymph fluid movement. It decreases blood pressure and strengthens the immune system. People who receive regular massages have greater joint flexibility and range of motion. Massage enhances athletic performance, promotes deeper and easier breathing, enhances the health and nourishment of the skin, and improves posture.

While the physical benefits of therapeutic massage are great, perhaps the most notable effects of therapeutic massage are its emotional benefits. Many of the ailments found among persons in today's society are stress-related. Massage has been found to be extremely effective in stress and anxiety reduction, and it has also been proven to reduce the symptoms and feelings of depression. In fact, studies have shown that women who had recently experienced the death of a child were less depressed after being massaged. People who rely on prescription medications to relieve symptoms of anxiety or depression may benefit by indulging in a weekly massage session.
