Benefit of Hot Stone Massage

More and more, hot stone massages are being appreciated worldwide because of their healing benefits and their ability to relieve stress. It is being increasingly demanded at many spas and wellness centers and is also being used in therapy. While stones have always being used for construction or decoration, in the past few years, some specific stones have being found to be good instruments for body massage. A massage stone is a smooth, flat and heated or cold rock used for body massage.
The massage stone was first used traditionally by some tribes in South America and Asia. The recent revival of hot stone therapy in the U.S was by Mary Nelson of Arizona who introduced the LaStone Therapy.
Different types of stones are used for stone body massages some of which are sardonyx, marble, jade and basalt. Basalt is the most used stone for this purpose because of its greater capacity to retain heat energy. It is placed in water and heated to attain a certain temperature range; then it is placed at specific points (generally the back or other parts like palm of hand and legs) of the body. The heat energy transferred to the body generates great benefits to the body.
Hot stone massage is known to have several benefits some of which are:
Muscle Relaxation: The heat from the stone causes greater relaxation of the muscles. This helps the therapist to manipulate the inner tissues more effectively. Some athletes have particularly tense muscles which make regular massage a challenge; these stones provide the energy required to soften them before the therapist continuous with deeper massage.
Improved Circulation: The therapists generally allow the stones to lie on the body parts for a while before starting the massage. The energy absorbed by the body tissues penetrates deep and causes the widening of blood vessels and the result is a more fluent circulation of blood round the body. This is important for an improved state of health.
Pain killer: All other methods of massage can help relieve pain generally caused by injuries, stiff joints or tense muscles. However, heated stone massage is more effective because of the intense nature of the massage. A heated stone massage leaves a better feeling because it permits the therapist to perform a deeper massage effectively as compared to other methods. Many times, pain is stress related and nothing eases stress as effectively as a heated stone massage.
Mental benefits: The relaxation gained from a warm stone massage helps ease mental stress and tension. Hot stone massage has been used in a complimentary way to traditional medical therapy and has many times been incorporated into the treatment plan of a patient. It is not a substitute for professional care but it is a great enhancer.
Wellness: Warm stone therapy is also used to achieve wellness as it is associated with balance and harmony. Hot stone massages have been known to cure insomnia and depression. Since they are used to release deadly toxins from the body, they naturally augment the curing of whatever condition was tied to those toxins.
The benefits of heated stone massage cannot be over emphasized; it promotes a feeling of peace and harmony and eases tension in a stress-filled world.

How Going To A Spa Can Relieve Tension As Well As Make You Look Younger

The spa is designed to be a place where you can go to let the world fade away. With all the activity in our daily lives it is no wonder spas are becoming big business. If you have never had the pleasure of visiting a spa, you may want to take a break from your demanding life and revamp your body and mind at one of the many spas available around the world.

As you arrive at the spa there are a number of wonderful pleasing activities that will send you into a state of relaxation. The facials are generally the first place that people tend to go to. Facials are a great place to start, the simple act of closing your eyes and having your face washed may start you to relax. There are many different types of facials available at spas and they are all with one benefit in mind, you. Whether you just have a deep cleansing facial or an age defying facial you will be sure to see a fresher face the next time you look in the mirror. A facial should have cleaning, moisturizing and refreshing levels as the key steps. There are many different types of crèmes and such that the spa may have available to enable this. The facial you have at the spa today may not be the same one you choose tomorrow. Regardless of the type of facial you choose you will not be disappointed.

Another common part of most spas is the body wraps. If you enjoyed the facial then head for a body wrap next since these are very similar. The wraps will encompass what the facial missed. After, you may feel as though your skin has been replaced with that of a child's. The dried layers of skin are no longer hiding the natural beauty underneath. You will feel refreshed and renewed by the time the end of the body wrap has arrived.

Finally you must attend to your muscles and the tired feeling you may carry around with you all day. A massage will undo the tension, giving you a new sense of direction. The tension that can build in your muscles can be a source of irritability that many people do not recognize. Often the simple release that can come from a massage is an experience worth plenty. The price of a day at the spa is not as expensive as the cost of high blood pressure and pulled muscles.

The spa is a place that can relax you and remove the stress and pressures faced in your daily life. From facials, to body wraps to a complete massage your tension will dissolve, leaving you feeling renewed and refreshed.

Hot Stone Massage Explained

Hot stone massage is a popular combination of a light massage technique aided by hot stones for relaxing stiff and tension muscles all over the patient' body. Swedish massage is probably the most commonly used massage therapy for this type of therapeutic massage as it is done in a gentle and smooth manner. The most common type of stone used on the patient's body is basalt rock. The reason for this is because of its ability to retain heat for a long time unlike the other stones. These stones are usually sanitized before being used on the patient's body.
The person responsible for making this massage type popular all over the world is an Arizona massage therapist named Mary Nelson. However, this massage technique is used for many centuries ago as an alternative medicine to promote a healthy condition. La-Stone Therapy was a modified version of hot stone massaged developed by Mary Nelson.
The basalt or other types of stones used are usually placed on a preheated water container until they reach the desirable and appropriate temperature suitable for this type of therapeutic massage. An electric heating device is commonly used as it is more convenient to heat things there than any other type of heating device. Stones that are not warm enough or lost their warmth are replaced and immersed back in the water and heated again in the electric heating device.
In a hot stone massage therapy session, the process is similar with any of the conventional massage therapy where the patient is required to undress and comfortably lie down on the massage bed. However, unlike the other massage styles, hot stone massage starts its therapy by warming up the patient's body with the help of hot stones positioned on the various meridian points located all over the body. The warmth of these stones helps a lot in releasing tension and calming the body parts of the patient as a preparation for a good massage therapy. The massage therapist also uses oil or lotion as a lubricant on the patient's body for a smooth and friction-free manipulation of the various massage strokes. The therapist has the liberty of using hot stones placed on both hands as he or she massages the patient. These stones are replaced with new stones in case the heat doesn't meet the appropriate temperature required for this massage therapy method. Most of the time during a massage session, the massage therapist doesn't remove the hot stones on the patient's body key points as he or she works all over the body.
Many people are getting hooked with this type of massage therapy because of its wonderful effect on the patient's body after the massage therapy session. This type of massage therapy is suitable for individuals who prefer to relax with a lighter and gentler massage therapy. People with body pain often find this technique relieving, relaxing and energizing. It is also a good way of removing emotional and physical stress by getting your energy re-balanced for a healthier body condition.

Quiet Please!!!

Do you ever feel like screaming this out? There is even a medical reason to "Take Five". Constant stimulation from the outside world, and just all the noise around us can keep the body in a flight-or-fight mode. The stress hormones from the over abundance of external stimulation, can raise your blood pressure, heart rate and cause that annoying stiff neck, indigestion and anxiety. You will find a more cheerful self after practicing, "take five". I find it impossible to be creative without my quiet time. Almost every nook in the retreat here, cozy sitting areas, landscape ideas, were created in my mind and put in writing on a tablet, when on vacation. I would be so excited to get home and install another quaint area in nature here. You can become more in tune with your thoughts and daydreams when you are not using all your energy to juggle the demands and noise around us. Personally, I need nature to find peace, just watching the birds, lizards, deer wandering. For others, it might be just having your favorite cup of coffee, reading a book, taking a nap. If you think you don't have time for this, think again. You will be more productive and make better use of your time, when you take time to step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I was inspired to share these thoughts, by a recent "Daily Inspiration" from Terry Minion about noise.

I personally invite you to leave your phone at home, come out to Thirty Six Oaks, find a hiding spot, and "take five  or ten " or even twenty minutes now and then, to recharge and enjoy the quiet!!

Hot Stone Massage - The Cool and Hot Way to Relax

Nowadays, there have been many ways and means that spas and clinics utilize in order to establish pain relief and elimination of stress. One of the newest is the hot stone massage. Swedish or other types of massages practiced in the spa can be even more relaxing, and combined with the effective techniques of a skilled massage therapist, a treatment incorporated with hot stones proves to be more successful, satisfying, and pain-free.

The origins of hot stone massage can be traced back to the ancient Romans, Chinese, and Indians who used stones that are heated manually at high temperatures. The heat from the stones is transferred to the body to stimulate physical and psychological relaxation. Lighter-colored stones are also utilized for cold stone therapy, to soothe and refresh the muscles of the back. It also relaxes the body on a hot day, preventing hot flushes and symptoms of fever or malaise.

Hot stone massage therapy has gathered positive reviews in such a short span of time because majority of individuals who are into massage often have it incorporated with their regular massage sessions. And a large proportion of people with back or neck problems who are regularly visiting their massage therapist also ask that stone massage be included in their treatment plan. These two therapeutic techniques may very well become effective in easing pain, tension, and stress.

Hot stone massage works by:
• Improving blood flow
• Decreasing tension and depression
• Relieving pain
• Lessening joint stiffness and muscle spasms
• Non-invasive, all-natural techniques
• Increasing flexibility

When you go into a massage clinic or a spa, you go with the hope that you will feel better and look better, and that is one of the most important goals of any massage, which stone massage therapy efficiently delivers. Using hot stones over the spine, legs, and other parts of the body enables the body to lay back, relax, and heal on its own. A set of heated stones are arranged along the spine while the legs are stroked gently using a smooth hot stone. Also, stones are placed on the areas of the body that are not being massaged. A relaxing technique that stone massage therapists also do is to have the individual hold a stone in each of his palms while the arms are being rubbed with heated, healing stones. What a great way to start and end a day!

Hot Stone Massage, It Is Warm and Relaxing

Hot stone massage is a popular type of massage therapy that uses smooth, flat stones that are heated for the purpose of healing the body quickly on its key point areas.

These heated stones used on this type of massage therapy are usually basalt which retains heat longer than most ordinary stones. They are usually heated on boiling water at a temperature of about 124° Fahrenheit before they are actually used on the patient's body.

During the massage therapy session, the massage therapist takes each stones that are ready for deployment on the key points of the patient's body. Most of these stones are placed on the patient's back while the others are set on the different areas of the body including between the toes.

One of the benefits we get from this type of massage is that our muscles are relaxed when these heated stones are placed on our body's key points. Warmth is used to relax tight muscles and removes the tension which causes different types of muscle problems on our body. The warmth of these special stones will make the massage process on the deep tissue of the patient's body more effective and much easier for the massage therapist. The massage therapist will then hold the hot stones on his hands while working on the different parts of the patient's body. He or she will also immediately replace these hot, smooth stones in case they become cold in temperature.

The massage therapist prepares and warms up the patient's body by working on the different areas of the body with Swedish massage. This is done in order for your body to fully accept the benefits of the hot stone massage.

The massage therapist will then take some heated stones and arrange them on the different areas of your back for a while for your body to relax and release tension as well as body toxins. The hot stones are regularly replaced from time to time as their temperature drops down. However, there are exemptions where cold stones are used. In case the patient has inflammation or injury, hot stones are replaced with cold stones to make the inflammation subside. This is uncommon though on massage therapy sessions.

Aside from the use of hot stones, the massage therapist will also use light oil or lotion on the patient's body so that he or she can maneuver the massage strokes much better all over the body. Oil and lotion reduces the friction and acts as a lubricant on the patient's body for a smooth massage stroke manipulation for the masseuse.

Most patients who have experienced this type of massage therapy share their joy of getting a relaxing and energizing massage therapy session. A significant muscle relaxation is evident right after a hot stone massage. It is also known as an effective therapy on relieving stress, and body pain. This therapeutic massage also calms down the psyche of the patient which results in the relief of mental stress. Body toxins are also removed from the patient's body after a good massage therapy session.
