Health Benefits That Massage Therapy Has To Offer

Massage provides very tangible physical benefits. It is deeply stress-relieving and gives people a sense of "True Relaxation." The benefits are many to many different people. But in every case, the therapeutic benefits of a massage are valuable, meaningful, relaxing and even curative! Massage is a manual therapy that manipulates the soft tissues and decreases muscle tension, pain, stress and depression.

The simple act of placing the hands on the body can itself encourage a person to thrive. Many studies have illustrated that without physical touch; babies (human or animal) will not thrive and may not even survive. Touch also has a positive effect on caregivers. For example, mothers who regularly have a great deal of physical closeness with their babies experience postpartum depression to a far lesser degree, and elderly caregivers feel a decrease in stress, anxiety and depression when they touch and are touched.

Massage therapy offers an avenue for balancing the stress of everyday life. Our bodies reflect our inner state of mind. So if someone feels overwhelmed and taxed, the muscles may be tense, sore, or stiff. Likewise, the physical state affects the mental state. Being in discomfort or pain, makes a person, prone to more negative thought patterns, and anxiety.

Acupressure massage therapy is a form which involves pressing particular points in the body which affect different organs of the body. Several different kinds of acupressure are currently practiced, although the same ancient trigger points are used in all of them. Varying rhythms, pressures, and techniques create different styles of acupressure, just as different forms of music use the same notes but combine them in distinctive ways.

Massage therapy, if properly done:

• Increases circulation;

• Enhances the immune system;

• Promotes nervous system functioning;

• Reduces blood pressure;

• Relieves pain and muscle tension;

• Improves mood, intellectual reasoning and job performance;

• Positive effect on conditions such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, diabetes and migraine headaches.

Depending on the technique used, massage therapy can also:

• Stimulate the nervous system to help reduce muscle atrophy;

• Increase muscle tone;

• Stimulate the functions of the skin or an organ deep inside the body;

• Sedate the nervous system to help ease muscle tension, spasticity, stress-related symptoms and headaches;

• Boost the functioning of the immune system and maintains health when done regularly;

• Stimulate sluggish circulation or slow down the circulation of someone who has just run a marathon when using friction massage techniques;

• Allow better range of motion and support the connective tissue and muscles in becoming strong and healthy when doing simple joint movements and joint stretching.

The health benefits are enormous, hence to infer it can easily be said the Massage Therapy not only helps treating body ache, stress and several other ailments, it is also the best way to be rejuvenated.

Looking At The Benefits Of Stress Relief Through Massage

The modern lifestyle for most average people today is hurried and stressful. Most families are in a routine of stressful events that becomes a way of life. However, too much pressure for too long can cause multiple health problems. Headaches, heart attacks, stroke, and even some immune related diseases are caused and made worse by stress.

Think about how great it feels to have the muscles in your back massaged. This is true even when you have no injury to muscles. However, for those times you do have sore aching muscles from overdoing it, you are experiencing a form of stress. When your body is fighting inflammation and pain, you might be surprised at the level of pressure it is under while doing so.

Many diseases that are caused primarily from you being under too much strain for too long can be completely avoided by learning how to handle it. Consider the number of people in hospitals suffering from heart attacks and stroke. Many of these same sufferers might have thwarted these attacks by simply taking time to relax.

Learning to relax can be hard, especially when you may be the one working to support your family or you are the one caring for someone sick,. Several situations can cause a great deal of pressure on one person. While many people are tough and have a great will to keep going on no matter what, they end up succumbing to pressures. Visiting a masseuse on a regular basis can allow you the time you need to learn how to truly relax.

Regular visits for muscle massaging can help to strengthen your immunity. This is a great reason many hospitals and clinics are incorporating this natural technique in their recovery routines. Research has shown how much faster people heal when massaging is a part of their healing process.

Massaging muscles can allow them to better expel metabolic waste. This is certainly a plus when you consider the number of external toxins you might be exposed to every day. Massaging also helps to promote the dispersion of vital nutrients in soft tissue. This is especially helpful in the cases of injured muscle tissue that requires a higher level of nutrients for healing.

Learn more about how you can relax and reap the benefits of massage for stress by visiting a professional masseuse. Making sure you take out time for yourself is important and necessary for you to maintain excellent health.

You can find a detailed summary of the reasons why you should go for massage for stress reduction and more information about the best massage therapist in Madison at http://www.blossomingsoulmassage.com now.

How To Choose Between Swedish And Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

There is a common misconception when it comes to massage which leads many people to believe that one technique is much the same as another. This means that when you book a massage you are often left feeling confused when they ask which type of massage you are looking for. Choosing the type of massage that is right for you can be perplexing as each type of massage therapy has its own benefits so it is important not to get confused. Two style of massage therapy which are commonly mistaken for each other are Swedish massage and Deep Tissue massage.

What Is Swedish Massage?

Swedish massage is one of the most popular types of massage therapy and it consists of a combination of strokes which use kneading, percussion, gliding, friction and vibration. The movements are usually used in a pattern which alternates between quick and slow strokes and varying levels of pressure. One of the key benefits of Swedish massage is that the strokes are designed to compliment the body's natural blood flow to the heart and is useful for stimulating the lymphatic system.

Some of the benefits which come with regular Swedish massage treatment include and improved level of blood circulation, easing of muscle tension, increased levels of relaxation and the removal of metabolic waste. It is not uncommon for people to feel an emotional release following this type of massage therapy as well. Swedish massage is particularly popular among people suffering from osteoarthritis or any sort of muscle pain or restricted movement caused by old injuries.

What Is Deep Tissue Massage?

In comparison, Deep Tissue massage therapy is designed to work on the connective tissues in the body. Unlike Swedish massage, the strokes in this style of massage are always performed slowly, although the level of pressure applied can vary. If the strokes are carried out to quickly, then the connective tissue, also known as the fascia, is not manipulated appropriately and the benefits are lost. Deep Tissue massage, when used on a regular basis, can help to break down old scar tissue and also promote oxygenation in the body. For this reason, Deep Tissue massage is often promoted as being beneficial to the skin.

The strokes that are used in a Deep Tissue massage treatment are very similar to those used in Swedish massage, which is where the confusion comes from, but the main difference is that when performing a Deep Tissue massage, the therapist will work against the grain of the muscles. It is also common for tools to be implemented during a Deep Tissue treatment. These tend to be made from either glass or smooth wood and are used alongside hands, elbows and fingers to maximize the effects of the therapy.

Pregnancy Massage - The Benefits

Pregnancy massage or prenatal massage is a therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the physiological, structural and emotional well being of mother and baby.

It may include Swedish, deep tissue or neuromuscular, and after the first trimester, pregnancy massage can be safely enjoyed by most pregnant women.

The human touch conveys love and comfort. Throughout pregnancy and during labour, pregnancy massage can be especially beneficial to alleviate aches and pains reduce stress and help you to relax.
How Pregnancy Massage Differs From Regular Massage

The major difference between pregnancy massage and regular massage is that the person receiving the massage is pregnant. An obvious point to state perhaps, but nevertheless very important.

When massage a pregnant woman it is very important that the practitioner have knowledge of pregnancy and the anatomy, as positioning during a massage is a critical factor to the safety of both mother and baby.

The second difference is that certain parts of the body should not be massaged.

Pregnancy Massage - What are The Benefits?

The experience of pregnancy can have a profound physiological and emotional effect on a woman. Coming to terms with the changes in her body, and the impending lifestyle changes can be quite stressful.

Pregnancy massage has been used for many years in many cultures to provide a nurturing touch and emotional support to expectant mothers, other benefits include:

o increased relaxation

o decreased insomnia

o lessened sciatic pain

o reduced swelling in hands and feet

o headache and sinus congestion relief

o neck and back pain relief

o stress relief on weight-bearing joints

o assistance in maintaining proper posture

o relief from muscle cramps, spasms, and myofascial pain, especially in the lower back, neck, hips, and legs.

o increase in blood and lymph circulation, which can reduce swelling

o preparing the muscles used during childbirth

Pregnancy Massage - Is It Safe?

Pregnancy massage is not recommended during the first trimester because of the hormonal changes occurring in the body during this period.

During the second and third trimester, and even during labour, massage is considered safe and even beneficial. However, while massage is considered safe during these periods, there are certain parts of the body that should not be massaged.

o The area between the ankle bone and the heel is considered by reflexologists to relate to the vagina and uterus. Direct pressure should not be applied here as it is thought this could induce early labour.

o Only superficial pressure should be applied to the inner leg and massage of the leg should be avoided completely if on bed rest for any complications as this can put you at a higher risk for blood clots forming in the legs.

o A flat gentle hand should be touched only superficially to the abdomen.

o Massage should be avoided if you have vaginal bleeding, diarrhoea or abdominal pain.

It is not recommended that pregnant women lie on the abdomen as this can place unnecessary strain on the lower back. Some therapists may provide a couch or table with a hole cut out for the abdomen but this is still ill advised.

It is advisable that you consult your health care provider before receiving massage during pregnancy and ensure you choose a suitably qualified practitioner with whom you can discuss your health conditions beforehand, in order for treatment to be modified to meet your individual needs.

Pregnancy Massage - Booking a Treatment

When booking a pregnancy massage ensure that the practitioner has been trained specifically in pregnancy massage and doesn't just cite this on their information leaflet.

Once you have found a suitable therapist you can begin to enjoy the benefits of pregnancy massage for the duration of your pregnancy and beyond. The benefits of massage at any time are great - so go on, what are you waiting for?

How a Day Spa Will Improve the Quality of Your Life

Do you have a stressful lifestyle and are looking for a way to escape the daily demands of your existence. If so, you should consider taking some time to visit a day spa. These places can allow you to finally get some needed relaxation. The fact is that many people tend to work too hard and not get enough time to recharge their batteries. Don't allow yourself to feel worse because you can't get away from your desk or your family. Make sure to schedule some time for yourself. Treating yourself to a day of pampering will allow you to resume your daily routines without feeling overwhelmed. What are some other benefits to the day spa? Consider the following:

Improved State of Health

There's no secret that people make themselves less healthy by not getting away from their stressful lives. Sitting at a desk all the time can lead to lingering back pain, for example. The stress of constant deadlines can also lead to stomach ulcers. The best way to start feeling better is to schedule some time away from your job and family. There's no need to feel guilty about taking time off for self-improvement. We all need to indulge in activities that only we enjoy from time to time. If you forego fun and relaxing activities, you may find yourself feeling depressed and full of despair. Make sure you take a trip to the day spa and get a massage for that aching back or some time in a hot tub to burn away all that nasty stress.

Become More Pleasant

Another reality is that people who are stressed and unhappy will often carry an attitude that may not be beneficial to them. Many people tend to wear their emotions on their sleeves at the workplace and at home, which can lead to some problematic verbal altercations. Don't get the reputation of being somebody who is constantly grouchy and stressed. Having a bad attitude will hurt more people than just you. If you have a family, your kids and spouse will be affected negatively if you're always unhappy. Don't take out your stress on other people. Going to the day spa will help you clear your head and help you feel re-energized. You'll become a better employee and, more importantly, a better person.

Make sure you schedule some time for yourself. A monthly trip to the day spa will absolutely benefit you. Scheduling the trip monthly will give you a positive routine and will be an event to look forward to, especially when you're struggling with a stressful situation. Make sure you always take the time to treat yourself. Don't become one of the many people who are tied too much to their obligations. The lack of relaxation can make you sick and miserable. You only get one opportunity in life, so make sure you fill it with positive and relaxing moments. You don't want to look back and regret how you treated yourself poorly when you should've done the exact opposite.

Facials an Effective Method of Improving the Skin

Our skin is subject to the harsh elements in the environment. Every day our faces are exposed to fluctuating air temperatures, dust, harsh chemicals in the water, free radicals, make up, and many other irritants. The skin surface contains small pockets called pores. These pores permit perspiration, oxygen, and foreign matter. These irritants cause cells to accumulate and block debris from exiting it. This results in acne, dry skin, puffiness under the eyes, black heads, and blemishes. Damage to the skin can cause premature aging and wrinkles. Facials are treatments that involve a deep cleansing. The purpose of this treatment is to clean, rehydrate, nourish, and rejuvenate the skin. Also helps increase circulation and stimulation.

They are a gentle and effective method of improving, Regular treatment every 8 to 10 weeks will rejuvenate and improve the texture thereby reducing irritations. If this is not possible, it is suggested that you have one at the beginning of Spring, and one before Winter. The price of can vary, but they usually start at about $75.00. The price will be much higher if you are attending a resort or spa retreat,

A professional will give a treatment that cleanses the pores, cleans out dirt and debris, restores elasticity, rehydrates dry skin, moisturizes, and repairs oily skin. Those are beneficial for all types, but those with sensitive skin should use more gentle moisturizers and face masks to avoid irritation.

The basic steps of a quality facial include:

Skin Assessment: A certified aesthetician with special training in skin care will assess you. Depending on your skin type, the professional will determine what products to use. Some people will require products with gentle ingredients. The professional will know what product to use. Skin type is determined by pore size, tone, texture, and oil production.

Skin Cleansing: If it is dry, your pores will need to be open by delivering warm steam that is directed at your face, or apply a warm towel. Then it will be necessary to use a product to deliver a deep cleansing formula. The cleansing process involves gently massaging with the cleansing solution.

Extraction: The extraction process involves removing blackheads manually. This process can be a bit uncomfortable but it is well worth it.

Exfoliation: This process involves manually or chemically removing debris. The skin is then rinsed thoroughly. Exfoliation helps unclog the pores.

Moisturizing: An aesthetician can use any number of moisturizers such as lotions, creams, and masks. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, these products rehydrate, nourish, and rejuvenate the skin. Moisturizers can be delivered by massage or through a moisturizing product such as a mask.

Most people are not aware of the proper products they should be using. Using incorrect products will often result in further damage. A treatment by a professional can help you learn about the proper care products you should be using. A professional face care will help you design an easy home care program for your individual skin type.

This is a healthy and relaxing way to treat your skin. Treatments are great for both men and women. They will help clear bad complexion and slow down the aging process. Upon completion, you will feel healthier, cleaner, relaxed, and shinier. When you have healthy and shiny skin, you are more confident and happy.

The dedicated staff at The Facial Place provide acne treatment, laser hair removal, facial treatments, facial laser skin treatment and many other Spa Pickering products and services. Just because you have sensitive skin doesn't mean you can't enjoy having a good facial treatments every now and t

You'll be greeted warmly (and unpretentiously) with some citrus iced tea. Do take some time to stroll the grounds and enjoy Linda's flowers and garden. It's called the serenity package and it was heavenly. I felt so much better when it was over that I was surprised when I glanced in a mirror and I still looked the same. What Are the Side Effects? | Deep Massage

Learn about the side effects of having a deep tissue massage from celebrity massage therapist Meagan Holub in this Howcast video.

There may be some possible, residual side effects, after you get a deep tissue massage. You're accessing the tissue pretty deeply, and you're going into muscles that sometimes haven't been touched in a long time, if ever. You may feel the next day, as if you've worked yourself out. You might feel a little bit sore that way, and that is normal and natural, and in those areas where you feel that way, it's probably a good idea just to add a little bit of ice, for under 10 minutes.

Maybe stay away from heat at first. I know we all love the heat, but ice is something that'll be better for you. Just in case, if there is a little bit of inflammation in the body, you're going to want to stay away from heat, because that will exacerbate that. But a little bit of ice can't hurt anything. Typically, you might feel just again a little bit sore, but you'll begin feeling so much better than you did before you got the massage within a couple of days, you'll quickly forget that that pain was there at all.

Deep Tissue Massage vs. Swedish Massage | Deep Massage

Learn the difference between a deep tissue massage and a Swedish massage from celebrity massage therapist Meagan Holub in this Howcast video.

The difference between Swedish massage and deep tissue massage, is Swedish massage is actually the base for deep tissue massage and deep tissue massage is delivered on a much deeper level. Swedish massage has some basic strokes, like effleurage and petrissage. With deep-tissue massage, you actually take those same modalities, and take them to a deeper level.

You can actually use other tools, instead of using just your hands, you can use your elbow. You can use your forearms. Things that will deliver a deeper amount of pressure, rather than just Swedish massage, which typically you would apply with your hands and your fingers. Many times when people request a Swedish massage, what they're asking for they often request a relaxation massage or something of this kind.

It's pretty much interchangeable. So Swedish massage is very relaxing. Deep tissue massage can also be very relaxing, I find if it's delivered by an expert that knows where that pain threshold is for you. Deep tissue massage, every once in a while someone will ask for deep pressure massage or harder pressure massage, or something like that, so that's what they're referring to.

Does Deep Tissue Massage Hurt? | Deep Massage

Find out if a deep tissue massage hurts from celebrity massage therapist Meagan Holub in this Howcast video.

So, to answer the question, “Does deep tissue massage hurt?” my immediate answer is, “It depends on who you’re getting the deep tissue massage from.”

I wish that I could say, “No, it doesn’t always hurt, ” but that’s not always true. So, I, I personally try to keep deep tissue massage from hurting, and I feel that most deep tissue massage experts do. And the way that we can do this is by accessing the tissue really slowly, really gently, and you get to much deeper layers if you do it that way.

There’s actually something called the “soul gel theory, ” which states that if you access the tissue very slowly, your tissue almost liquefies and you can get nice and deeply and the body doesn’t experience any pain. But if you try to go in fast and, and, access those deeper layers really quickly, your body’s going to resist just like it does with any sort of extreme pressure or, or, trauma to the area.

So, while there may be some discomfort, it’s actually really important for your massage therapist to be checking in with you and make sure that they’re asking you where your pain threshold is. And where they figure out where that threshold is where you’re sort of on the line between “hurts so good” and “hurts, ” they need to keep you right on that side of “hurts so good.”

How to Prepare for a Massage | Deep Massage

Learn how to prepare for a deep tissue massage from celebrity massage therapist Meagan Holub in this Howcast video.

As a client preparing for deep tissue massage you're going to prepare for it, much like any other massage. You basically get to just sit back and relax, and let the massage therapist work their magic. But there are a couple of things that a massage therapist is going to do to make sure that you are properly prepared for a deep tissue massage. It's a little bit different than a relaxation massage or a Swedish massage.

So they're actually going to prep your tissue with some Swedish massage strokes, some more relaxing strokes. This helps your tissue warm up, and it becomes a little more flexible. So that later when they access with those deeper strokes, your tissue is ready to allow it and it feels great and it's pain free. One of the things that many massage therapists suggest for you to do, is to stay well hydrated for a few days before the massage and afterwards. It helps keep your muscle tissue supple and soft. But I do suggest that you don't drink too much water right before you get on the table.

The Health Benefits of Prenatal Massage

This form of massage therapy is designed specifically for the pregnant women's needs and changes to their bodies. Professional therapists adjust the techniques being used according to each individual and which stage of pregnancy they are in.

Prenatal massage dates back to ancient times. References to it have been found in ancient ayuruedic medical texts, relating to the care of women preparing for child birth. They saw, even way back then, the need for the expectant mother to be in excellent spiritual, mental, and physical shape for this momentous occasion. All of these are key factors still today. The ancient texts tell how rubbing the mother to be with oils is vital during pregnancy and after the birth of the child.

Pregnancy Message Treatments

Studies show that massage treatments during pregnancy improve the outcome of labor, along with the newborn's health. The message technician does this by lowering anxiety, relieving muscle aches, and decreasing depression through specific techniques. In addition, there are several other problems associated with pregnancy that are remedied with pregnancy massage treatments.

  • Pregnancy causes a fluctuation in hormones. Regulating these hormones is a huge benefit of message therapy. Hormones cause discomfort and mood swings for the mother. Massage alters hormone levels through reduced stress and relaxation. Having the hormone level regulated by a massage therapist also leads to fewer complications during birth.

  • Pregnant women often experience swelling. Massage therapy reduces swelling and edema caused by a reduction in circulation and an increase in pressure on the blood vessels. A message therapist can stimulate tissue, reducing the amount of fluid collecting.

  • The sciatic nerve can cause pain during pregnancy. Less Sciatic Nerve Pain is another result of pregnancy massage treatments. Sciatic problems occur during late pregnancy when swelling and weight gain puts pressure on the sciatic nerve, causing back and leg pain. A professional therapist will relieve the pressure placed upon the sciatic, meaning less pain for the mother to be.

  • An increase in the volume of blood can cause women to experience frequent headaches while carrying a child. A professional therapist can massage the shoulders and neck to relieve the pain.

  • Patients using a massage routine during pregnancy will find they can get a better night's sleep. All of the problems commonly associated with pregnancy can keep the mother awake at night. Massage will alleviate many of these pains, allowing one to rest easier.

The Health Benefits of Prenatal Massage Therapy

The health benefits of prenatal massage therapy are numerous. Among them, reducing stress is of great importance. When the mother to be is free of stress, she can relax. This promotes an overall wellness for her and the baby.

This form of massage therapy also relieves several of the most common discomforts a pregnant woman experiences. Stiff neck, backaches, leg cramps, edema or swelling, and headaches can all affect one's overall health. Massage is a natural way of eliminating many of these problems by stimulating the blood flow and nerves.

Best of all, massage therapy relieves stress that appears on joints that bear the extra weight. This combined with the nervous system being soothed can allow the pregnant woman to feel less pain. Both the lymph and blood circulation will benefit as well.

All of these benefits help one sleep better at night. Massage combined with a good night's rest means relief of anxiety and depression. These symptoms are brought on by changes in the hormones, but they can be elevated when an expecting woman is sleep deprived. In response to massage therapy techniques, the body will release endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine. All are natural chemicals that play a key role in relaxation and health.

Prenatal Massage Therapist

Becoming a prenatal massage therapist takes specific training to enable the therapist to have the proper qualifications. They need to have a strong ethical background, as well as a thorough education on positioning and massage treatments.

The advanced training a prenatal massage therapist receives includes an in-depth study of deep tissue, passive movement, neuromuscular systems, and reflexive positional release. They will have studied methods of massage that are modified to handle the structural, emotional, and physiological changes the expectant mother encounters.

Massage therapists who specialize in prenatal care need to have a comprehensive understanding of more than just massage treatments. They need to have the knowledge to help a woman through every stage of their child bearing journey. This includes labor, birth, and even postpartum care. Their skills can help one successfully transition into each phases, resulting in a healthy and uncomplicated birth.

NYC Massage Therapist Eugene Wood fulfills all of these requirements and is qualified to help you throughout this amazing time in you and your child's life. What's the Difference Between Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue Massage?

Massage therapy is not a one-size-fits-all practice. Knowledgeable and skilled therapists will adjust their techniques and tactics depending on what issues you're dealing with and what kind of relief you hope to gain. The goal is to provide benefits that are specific to your needs and wants, which means tailoring the massage accordingly.

That said, there are distinct techniques under the therapy umbrella that boast different schools of thought, manipulation techniques, and health benefits. Two common practices in the U.S. are Swedish massage and deep tissue. While they do share certain characteristics and a therapist may be certified and trained in both methodologies, there are also distinct differences between the two. Knowing the hallmarks of a specific massage practice can help you choose wisely and reap the maximum benefit it.

Swedish Massage

If you're new to massage, Swedish massage is probably what you think of as a standard, "classic" massage. During a this, your therapist will employ an array of movements, including effleurage (sliding across and stroking the skin), petrissage (kneading motions), tapotement (rhythmic tapping with the palm, back, or side of the hand), vibration, and friction. The kneading and tapping can relieve muscle tension and dispel knots, while gliding and creating friction can increase blood flow to the area, stimulate nerves, and further soothe sore muscles. In general, Swedish massage works on the superficial muscles and promotes relaxation and well-being.

Deep Tissue Massage

For people with injuries or ongoing musculoskeletal issues, deep tissue massage can be just the right prescription. Unlike Swedish massage, deep tissue massage digs down below the surface muscles to directly target problem areas. By manipulating the fascia-the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, organs, and nerves-a therapist can release unhealthy muscle patterns and stretch chronically injured or overly tense muscles. Deep tissue is often included in physical therapy regimens for injury recovery. Athletes, dancers, and other people who rely on their body professionally use it to improve performance. During a deep tissue massage<, the therapist may use fingers, fists, forearms, or even elbows to reach the necessary tissue layer.

Considerations

For a soothing, full-body relaxation experience, choose Swedish massage. Deep tissue is more intense, as the goal is often to encourage injured or tight muscles and fascia to heal faster and to increase range of motion and flexibility. If you're in doubt about what's right for you, talk to your doctor before setting up a massage therapy appointment. Also, always inform your therapist of any and all physical issues you're having before he or she starts the session. Afterward, take care to hydrate and to gently stretch out any areas with residual tension. Note that it's common to experience some soreness after it, particularly a vigorous deep tissue massage. However, massage therapy should never be truly painful and is best viewed as a supplement to rather than a replacement for standard medical care.

Pregnancy Massage - What You Need to Know

Pregnancy is a big event in the life of the expectant mother as well as the father. And in order to make sure that everything goes well with it, couples will be willing to go through any possible methods. One technique that is famous among those who are expecting their babies to come is a pregnancy massage.

A little background about pregnancy massage might be necessary for a lot of people. It might not be familiar to women who have not had a baby before. If it is your first pregnancy, you might want to stick around and learn if pre-natal massage is right for you.

The techniques that are used for pregnancy massage are specifically made with the pregnant mother in mind. This means that a mother's welfare is prioritized. Any potential dangers to the mother and the baby are effectively avoided as much as possible.

The difference between a regular massage therapy and a pregnancy massage can first be obvious on the position that is assumed. On a regular massage, a person can lie on any position. The most common of these positions is laying face-down. However, for mothers who are in their second or third trimesters, lying face-down might not be the best idea. Also, lots of pillows and padding are used in order to ensure that both the baby and the mother are comfortable and well supported.

There are body parts, particularly the womb, which should be avoided. Deep tissue massage is likewise avoided. The use of certain lotions or oils might also be lessened especially if they are not indicated for a pregnant woman.

A pregnancy massage might be necessary for a mother in order to try to reduce the stresses that one can experience with pregnancy. Becoming pregnant does not only have physical strain. It also offers a lot of emotional burdens on the expectant mother.

Taking in medications while pregnant can be limited. If you are experiencing back pains from carrying the baby around for some time might be solved with the aid of a massage and not by taking pharmaceutical pain relievers. Other body parts might also feel the strain which massage can effectively relieve.

Getting a massage while pregnant can require a decision that is made by both the mother and father. Although there are no immediate risks to the welfare of the baby, issues are avoided as much as possible. The risk of injury will always be present even in a very small degree. Fortunately, you can keep in mind ways that will keep you and your baby away from danger.

In order to make sure that you are safe, you should only get your massage from a licensed massage therapist. Someone who has extensive knowledge on pregnancy massage will also be preferred. He or she will be able to identify what techniques should be avoided and what will be most effective and that will provide the mother with the most benefits. Consult your obstetrician regarding your plans of getting a massage. If you are cleared, you can start searching for the most fitting massage therapist in your area.

For some, it takes a significant event to push them out of thinking about it, into actually picking up the phone and scheduling their massage.

If you find yourself searching for justification or an excuse to get a massage, here's an idea: Knowing how good massage is at relieving stress after an event, why not join that group of people who get a massage BEFORE a potentially high stress event? Individuals taking this proactive approach experience a measurable decrease in anxiety during and immediately after the stressful situation or event, along with reported moderation's in heart and breathing rates.

It's also well documented that massage substantially alters aspects of blood chemistry for the better.
Why not take a self-actualizing step, and enjoy that kind of relief as part of your preparation going into that day of the big business meeting or exam?

Walking into the situation, inwardly you know your muscles and tissues are less bound by up tension and toxins.

Stepping up to the plate, you know you're on top of your game since those by-products of stress can tend to make you sluggish, if not flat-out fatigued. You're more aware, more alert and your immune system is stronger. You're ahead of the game, just by taking the time for your massage BEFORE the event gets underway.

There are always good reasons to decide to make the call or the click to schedule your full body massage.

Now you have another reason - a new 'take charge' idea that extends to a more relaxed, self-actualized and powerful you.

Hot Stone Massage - What It Is And How It Works

Hot stone massage is perhaps one of the fastest growing techniques being used for massage therapy world wide. Even though it is relatively new, it is growing in popularity very quickly. The healing powers of this new massage make it one of the most desirable therapies. This type of massage was first developed in Sweden and it is just like it sounds. Hot stones are used with the more traditional massage to help people relive stress as well as aching tight muscles.

The use of the hot stones is quite different then the usual massage technique. A therapeutic body massage is done by using a gentle touch that slowly works the kinks out of your muscles. You may be surprised to find out that in some cases the massage therapist may even massage you without even touching you. That is where they come into play. The only time the therapist may have to touch you is to reposition the stones to ensure that you are getting the full benefits and that they are where they need to be.

One thing about the hot stones is that there is no pain involved at all, where as regular massage may hurt as the muscles are being working to loosen them up. The kneading action of traditional massage can sometimes be painful so, this is a great alternative.

The type of stone massage can vary depending on the therapist and the patient. The therapist will evaluate the patient's needs and tailor the therapy as needed. Basalt stones are the stones that are used as they can keep the heat in them for the length of the massage. These stones are usually heated up to 120 degrees before they are used.

Once the stones have been heated they are then placed strategically on the parts of the body that need to benefit the most. Usually body parts such as the arms and legs will require the lighter stones where as the heavier stones will be placed on the torso. The ones that are placed on the torso are usually 3 to 5 pound stones as they can penetrate the heat better to the thicker muscles.

The therapist will then take each stone and work it into the muscles by rubbing it where the problem areas are. Now keep in mind that the hot stone therapy does not require the massaging of the stones. You can simply place the stones in the areas of need and let the heat do the rest of the work.

If you suffer with back problems or stiff muscles then this may be just the thing for you. Talk with a massage therapist and see if a hot stone massage is a good option for you and your body.
